If you’re looking for the perfect event dress this spring or summer I think I’ve found one you can add to your shopping list. This baby blue ruffle midi dress is so comfortable and the strappy back and ruffle details make an otherwise solid midi dress a little fancier! I wore it to my best friend’s pinning ceremony this past week (and although it was a little chilly) it was the perfect dress for the ceremony… that was luckily inside 🙂
I don’t talk too much about my personal life as far as my family and friends go, so I thought today’s post would be a good chance for Emillion Thoughts readers to get acquainted with two very important people in my life. As I said, I wore this midi dress to my friend’s pinning ceremony where she officially (with the exception of passing the NCLEX) became a nurse! It was without a doubt a proud friend moment! I was so happy that I could be there to love and support all of the hard work, long hours, countless papers, emotional exhaustion, sleepless nights and passion she put into the past two years of her program and her entire college career.
The three of us have been friends for quite a few years. Molly (the one in the cap and gown) and I met in our first grade class when she got her finger stuck in a clip board – if you knew her you’d understand why this isn’t a strange way to meet. We were in every elementary school class together until sixth grade, which is the year I met Jen (the one on the left). We were both a head taller than almost everyone in our class and shared a love of the Clique books and the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. We spent that year shopping at Old Navy and wearing matching outfits to school – I fondly reminisce about those times while she cringes.
The summer going into our seventh grade year, which in our small town means a move to the big high school on the top of the hill, Jen’s family moved across the street from Molly. Their friendship was inevitable, but I like to think I had something to do with it. Since then the three of us have been best friends and as the years have gone by we’ve only grown closer. We’ve been there for each other through every tearful break up, bad fashion choice and fight with our parents. As well as for every college acceptance, goal scored and milestone finally reached. I am truly blessed to have a support system, best friend, confidant, mother (at times), advice giver and the closest thing I’ll ever have to a sister all wrapped into one. The idea that we’ve remained friends through middle school, high school, attending colleges hundreds of miles apart and now into our professional lives is a true testament to the kind of friendship we’ve built.
A soon-to-be RN and a TFA teacher stand beside me – people who want to dedicate and enrich their own lives by giving to others. They continue to humble me, ground me and help shape me into the person I am today.
